The final episodes of Money Heist Season 5 were released on Netflix on December 3, 2021, concluding the extremely dangerous heist in the Bank of Spain. Part 2 of the final season delivered five episodes featuring some of the show’s best moments, and now, millions of fans are wondering if the Professor and his gang will return for another heist.
Will there be Money Heist Season 6?
Sadly, the answer is no. Season 5 Vol. 2 has been announced as the final run of the series and was hyped up as the grand finale. For now, Netflix has made it clear that this is the end of Money Heist unless the streaming giant announces a revival several years from now. However, that doesn’t mean fans of the beloved Spanish series will no longer have any new Money Heist-related content to enjoy in the near future. If you watched the ending of Money Heist, you can tell that the heist is over and they’ve already wrapped-up the story.
Will there be Money Heist spin-offs?
Yes! While the main series may be over, Netflix already confirmed a South Korean version of Money Heist, which was officially titled Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area, and was released on Netflix on June 24, 2022.
You can check out the trailers for Money Heist: Korea below:
The official description for the upcoming show reads: “Disguised under the shadows of a mask, a crew of desperados band together under the leadership of a criminal mastermind known only as ‘The Professor’ to pull off the biggest heist Korea has ever seen.”
Netflix ordered 12 episodes of Money Heist: Korea but only released 6 in June, so expect more episodes to arrive in the near future. According to Netflix’s programming slate for November 2022, the other 6 episodes will not be released this month. A Berlin spinoff is also coming in 2023, starring Pedro Alonso as Andrés “Berlin” de Fonollosa. In March 2022, Deadline reported that Money Heist creator Alex Pina is working on a pandemic-inspired series for Netflix, so it’s likely that the producer will focus more on other projects not related on Money Heist from now on.
What could Berlin be about?
The upcoming Money Heist spin-off will focus on fan-favorite Berlin (Pedro Alonso), aka Andrés de Fonollosa, and The Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) brother. However, little is known about the show beyond that. Since Berlin died in Season 2 of Money Heist, it’s safe to say that the spin-off won’t take place after the end of Money Heist. You can watch the character introduction video for Berlin below:
The final episodes of Money Heist revealed that Andrés and Sergio came from a family of criminals and thieves. It’s likely that Berlin will reveal The Professor and Berlin’s first heists, and answer some important questions, including the identity of Rafael’s (Patrick Criado) mother. When will Berlin be released on Netflix?
Right now, the series is looking at a 2023 release date, but there’s always a chance that the COVID-19 pandemic could delay production again. Hopefully, that won’t be the case.
