According to a casting leak unearthed by the good folks over at Inverse, the studio is looking to cast actor Penn Badgley as Reed Richards in the aforementioned project. The 35-year-old actor may seem relatively unknown to some of you but he’s been making waves in the world of streaming thanks to his portrayal of next-door psychopath Joe Goldberg in Netflix’s hit thriller series You.Other fans recall him from his time in the teen drama series Gossip Girl where he played the cunning and manipulative Dan Humphrey. So far, the MCU fandom has been generally pleased with Penn’s potential casting and some even pointed out his apparent resemblance to Reed in the comics. Of course, there are also skeptics who don’t think the actor is a good fit for the part. Check out some of the reactions below:

If anything, becoming part of the MCU will showcase just how much depth he has as an actor, and honestly, I’m digging the idea of him playing Earth-616’s Reed.
