The Marauders have long been a fan-favorite, with Potterheads wondering what the mischievous group may have been like when they were still Hogwarts students. Fans have been hoping that James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew will get their own movie in the future. However, David Zaslav may have shot down hopes with his latest statement.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has already confirmed that the studio is eager to work on more Harry Potter movies, claiming that “we haven’t done a Harry Potter movie in 15 years.” It’s a curious statement considering that it casts aside the Fantastic Beasts trilogy. In addition to that, Zaslav might be confirming that the Wizarding World is not something that WB wants to continue getting content from. Sadly, the Wizarding World would still include the Marauders, who famously created the Marauders Map that Harry Potter first uses in The Prisoner of Azkaban. The idea of a Marauders prequel would also feature the young Lily Evans and Severus Snape and hopefully explore how the students interacted in the past. But what does Zaslav’s statement mean about more Harry Potter content? There’s a huge chance that instead of a prequel, the next project will be a sequel adapting J.K. Rowling’s The Cursed Child. This way, we’ll be seeing the adult versions of Harry, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Draco Malfoy. For now, Warner Bros. has not yet announced any new Harry Potter projects.
