Based on the footage, it looks like the film will be a blend of action and comedy as hinted by some of the quick comedic moments that they showed throughout the trailer. At the same time, they are also honoring the source material and the nature of its gameplay. Hopefully, it will be a satisfying film and will be much better than the panned 2000 adaptation.
Besides Pine and Grant, the cast also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Regé-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Jason Wong, and Daisy Head. Goldstein, Daley, and Michael Michael Gilio wrote the screenplay based on the story conceived by Chris McKay and Gilio. Jeremy Latcham, Brian Goldner, and Nick Meyer serve as producers.
The premise reads: “A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.” The film will bring “the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.”
