Recently, the show’s official Twitter account shared a new visual featuring Kiwi, and it shows her taking off her mask to give us a look at her face. Though what she looks like without her mask might not be what you’d expect.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ Success and Popularity
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-episode anime by Trigger and CD Projekt RED that’s based on the Cyberpunk 2077 video game which was released in December 2020. The game itself is based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game that was released back in 1988. Edgerunners follows David Martinez, a street kid in Night City. While he starts as a student in a prestigious school, he soon gets into trouble, leading to his expulsion. He soon meets the netrunner Lucy and becomes an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw. Shortly after its release, the show became a big hit as it topped Netflix charts in various countries. It also got great reviews from both critics and fans, with some even going so far as to call it a strong “anime of the year” contender. Because of the show’s popularity, there was a renewed interest in Cyberpunk 2077 in the days and weeks following its Netflix release. Shortly after the show’s premiere, Cyberpunk 2077 became one of the most-played games on Steam. Based on Steam’s internal player statistics, the game reached over 80,000 concurrent players in a day during the days after the show’s premiere. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Kiwi Face Reveal
In the series, Kiwi is a netrunner who is part of Maine’s crew. She is an invaluable member of the crew as her netrunning abilities are key in the various jobs that they get. Kiwi also serves as Lucy’s mentor. For the whole series, Kiwi is shown with her mask on. Even if there were parts where she wasn’t wearing anything, her mask was still there to obscure her face. Now, here is the official Kiwi face reveal: As one of the most chromed-up members of the crew, Kiwi doesn’t have much of a face. Instead, it seems that most of her face is hollow, perhaps to facilitate more implants. Given the series’ success, many fans are hoping for a second season. But for now, it seems that there are no plans yet for a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. Get the latest news and trends direct to your feed by following us on Twitter @epicstreamanime or on Facebook.
