Boruto and Kawaki are tasked with being housemates with Eida and Daemon in order to surveil them, but their first meeting doesn’t go so well. Daemon immediately jumps Boruto, riding on his back like he did before. Daemon introduces himself as the “little brother” of Eida, and Boruto and Kawaki are clearly surprised since they were not told that Eida would have a companion.
“You Ohtsutsuki, you’re capable of killing big sis, right?,” Daemon tells them. “But I’d never let you do such a thing.” When Kawaki tries to attack Daemon, the force of his attack reflects back on him, pushing him to the ground. And with his super speed and taijutsu skills, Daemon smashes both of them to the ground without breaking a sweat, all while laughing as he proves that he’s a menace they shouldn’t piss off.
The scene with Daemon defeating both Boruto and Kawaki foreshadows major problems in Boruto. This is not the first time we’ve seen Daemon dominate in battle; he already fought Code a few chapters ago, and the kid was able to beat him easily, but Code realized that Daemon needs to have his palms in contact to use his reflective power, even if he’s not looking at the enemy. Unfortunately, Boruto and Kawaki still don’t know this secret unless Amado spills it. This chapter shows that high level of threat Konoha might have to deal with in the near future. Daemon is able to prove that he can easily take Boruto and Kawaki down, so the two heroes would need to come up with a strategy if they have any plans of taking him (or possibly, Eida) down. With Amado getting ready to share what he knows to Naruto and Shikimaru, it’s likely that a major conflict is about to rise within the Hidden Leaf Village soon. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 74, titled Baptism, is now available to read on Viz Media.
