In a report by Comic Natalie, it was revealed that Blue Period teamed up with Burberry for a special booklet that will be given as a limited gift at Burberry stores in Japan starting August 20, 2022. Unlike other anime fashion collabs which feature apparel based on characters from the show, this Burberry collection instead centers on artwork and an original story by creator Yamaguchi. The original story features the new character Lola, a personification of Burberry’s iconic “Lola” bag that was designed by Riccardo Tisci. In the story, Blue Period protagonists Yatora Yaguchi and Ryuji “Yuka” Ayukawa meet Lola and are influenced by her. Along with the story, the booklet also features two artworks made by Yamaguchi featuring the series’ characters wearing Burberry apparel and accessories. Regarding the collaboration, Yamaguchi mentioned that Burberry is a brand that she admires and that she thought the best way to share this is through an original story made with the “same kind of warmth as the manga.” Aside from being available in stores, the booklet will also be available via the Burberry Japan website. For a limited time, the Burberry LINE official account will also distribute wallpapers featuring the illustrations drawn by Yamaguchi. In case you’re unfamiliar, Blue Period is an anime series by Seven Arcs based on the manga of the same name by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. The manga began back in June 2017 and is serialized in Monthly Afternoon. Its story follows Yatora Yaguchi, a popular high school student who secretly struggles with feelings of emptiness. Soon, he decides to pursue art after visiting his high school’s art club and being inspired by a painting. Because of this, Yatora aspires to attend the Tokyo University of the Arts once he graduates from high school. The Blue Period anime series aired from October to December 2021 on JNN in Japan. Outside Japan, the series is available for streaming on Netflix.
