The Illuminerdi has revealed some of the alleged details in the original script for Blade prior to Tariq’s exit where, according to them, the film was going to take place largely in the 1920s and features European vampires. They also heard that the film was also originally going to feature scenes in multiple time periods beyond the decade. Following Tariq’s exit, The Direct reported that Moon Knight and X-Men ‘97 writer Beau DeMayo is currently penning a new script for the film and started from scratch. He was hired after his previous works in the studio impressed the executives. He is taking the reigns from the previous writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour.
So far, the fate of the project is currently unknown following the exit of Tariq. The film was supposed to start filming this November ahead of release next year, but now it appears to be very unlikely as the studio is still looking for a new director to take over. There are reports that production will now begin early next year as a result of this behind-the-scenes shakeup. Ali is also still attached to star in the film, but it is unknown if the other key players are still staying with all these changes. While we have some of the alleged details on the original script, it is hard to tell why Ali was reportedly upset about it which led to the creative differences. We may not know the exact circumstances, but what matters now is the next step for the film following these shakeups and what the new script will look like.
